Website accessibility
Approach
The lacaisse.com website aims to provide content that complies with the website accessibility standards (SGQRI 008-01) adopted by the Québec Treasury Board.
To ensure its site is compliant, in accordance with the requirements set out in standard SGQRI 008‑03 (in French only), La Caisse has commissioned a specialized firm to conduct formal, functional tests using the tools indicated below.
Description of the rules put in place to ensure site compliance
- Page titles describe content
- The keyboard can be used to navigate the site and access most functions
- The navigation and presentation mechanisms are consistent from page to page
- Content on each page is accessible via a direct link
- Section titles show a consistent hierarchy
- Text is written in clear and simple language
- Most informational images have alternate text
- Most links are labelled to facilitate navigation
- Colour contrasts make the site easier to read
- Tables are simplified and correctly tagged
- Language changes are correctly tagged
- Content can be accessed in a variety of ways: menus, search engine and sitemap
- Changing the focus or input field does not change the context, save for exceptions
- Colour is not used as the only way to convey information
Tools used to check compliance
- NVDA + Chrome: combination used most often by screen reader users
- Axe Dev Tools (version 4.114.1): extension for Chrome, including HTML validator
- Color Contrast Analyser (version 2.5): to verify colour contrasts
- PDF Accessibility Checker (version 24.3.2.0): to evaluate PDF documents
