George Agethen

George Agethen is Managing Director, Real Estate, for the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions. He is responsible for investment and asset management strategies and leads the real estate teams in these regions.

Mr. Agethen has over 25 years of experience in real estate capital markets, transactions and investment management. Before joining La Caisse in 2015 (Ivanhoe Cambridge at the time), he served as Senior Executive Director and Head of Alternative Investments at Ping An Trust, a subsidiary of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China Ltd., a public company. In that role, he was responsible for establishing a multi-asset real estate portfolio that invests globally. Prior to that, he served in senior roles at HREI (a joint venture between Harvest Funds Management and Grosvenor Group) and Harvest Capital Partners, leading firms in Greater China. He also previously served as Vice President, Private Capital Markets, Real Estate, for Macquarie Capital in Australia and Hong Kong, and he also spent several years in the real estate sector in Australia.

Mr. Agethen holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Commerce and in Law and a Master’s Degree in Finance from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He sits on the Board of the Asia Pacific Real Assets Association (APREA) and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. During his career, he has lived in Australia, Hong Kong, China and Singapore, and he speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
