The Caisse and Society

Helping Improve the Community’s Well-Being

Through its activities and presence in Québec, the Caisse has a positive influence on its community, given that it:

  • Supports various philanthropic and cultural initiatives;
  • Has a solid commitment to improving the urban landscape and community life;
  • Takes part in discussions on issues facing society.

Philanthropic Initiatives and Cultural Life
The commitment of the Caisse and its employees to the underprivileged in our society is well reflected in Centraide’s annual fund-raising campaign. In exercising its responsibility as a good corporate citizen, the Caisse also makes donations to charitable and health-related organizations.

The Caisse also lends its support to a few cultural organizations, in addition to setting up a collection of contemporary Québec artwork, comprised primarily of works carried out since 1965.

Urban Revitalization and Restoration of Cultural Heritage

The Caisse’s initiatives on an urban level reflect a great respect for cultural heritage and a willingness to contribute to quality real estate.

In Montréal, for instance, the Caisse was a leader in the emergence of a district where a number of international companies’ activities are concentrated: the Quartier international de Montréal. The construction of the Caisse’s main place of business revitalized the district as it was added to other buildings with an international scope. Inaugurated in 2003, the building has a unique architecture, and has received several awards in architecture, planning, real estate, engineering and interior design.

In the city of Québec, the restoration of the Price Building, where the Caisse’s head office is located, allowed for the preservation of the architectural characteristics of this jewel of Art Deco. In addition, the building has been equipped with state-of-the-art systems using innovative technologies. In 2002, the building received the "Building of the Year" award in the historical buildings category, from the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Canada.

At the Heart of Current Issues
With its presence on the international financial scene, the Caisse takes part in discussions on global issues and the financial and economic challenges facing modern societies. It exercises its leadership within the financial community by actively participating in various forums on today’s major social, economic and financial issues:

  • The International Economic Forum of the Americas/Conference of Montréal, an event uniting speakers from around the world each year;
  • Conferences on a wide array of subjects as part of the Entretiens Jacques Cartier, held alternately in Québec and France’s Lyon region;
  • The Journées Claude-Prieur, a meeting geared toward strategic reflection on the issues relating to the Caisse’s profession, fund management;
  • The Groupe de Montréal, an international group of fund and pension fund managers;
  • The Québec City Conference, an annual activity on venture capital and private equity held in the city of Québec.
