Profile
Caroline Bineau was appointed Vice-President, Internal Audit, on May 21, 2009. In this capacity, she supervises the team of internal auditors who support the managers of the Caisse's investment groups and general services in fulfilling their obligations in terms of achieving efficiency, effectiveness and economy.

Ms. Bineau works closely with the Board of Directors' Audit Committee regarding its mandate to examine the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes and the optimal utilization of resources. She reports directly to the Audit Committee Chair and is under the administrative authority of the President and Chief Executive Officer.


Background

Ms. Bineau has a solid investment background. She joined the Caisse in 2004 as a Director and was subsequently promoted to Associate Vice-President, Administration, with the Fixed Income and Currencies team. Named Senior Director, Investment Operations Auditing in September 2008, she carried out several mandates with the Caisse's investment teams before accepting her current position.

Prior to this, Ms. Bineau worked with TAL Global Asset Management from 2000 to 2004, occupying the roles of Manager, Customer Service, and Assistant Vice-President, Analysis Services. She began her career as an analyst specializing in various sectors, first with Robert Comtois Capital and then with Montrusco Bolton. She was also a lecturer in actuarial science at the Université du Québec à Montréal in 2001 and 2002.

Ms. Bineau is a chartered financial analyst (CFA) and holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics, with a major in actuarial science, from the Université de Montréal, as well as a master's degree in management science, with a major in finance, from HEC Montréal. She is currently working toward her chartered internal auditor (CIA) designation through the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Connections
Ms. Bineau sat on the executive committee of the Montréal CFA Society from 2000 to 2004. During this time, she helped promote the organization's educational role. Between 1998 and 2003, she was a member of the board of the Cercle finance et placement du Québec, which she chaired in 2002.
