Profile
As Executive Vice-President, Depositors' Accounts Management and Strategic Initiatives, Bernand Morency supervises the teams responsible for depositors' accounts, strategic planning and strategic initiatives. As part of his duties, he oversees relations between the Caisse and its 25 depositors and develops the institution's three-year strategic plan. He also sits on the Executive Committee.
Background
Mr. Morency joined the Caisse in November 2007, as Special Adviser, Depositors and Risks. He was promoted to his current position on April 30, 2009.
Prior to this, Mr. Morency worked for Mercer for more than 30 years, during which time he was called upon to advise a number of leading Canadian private and public corporations. He was a member of Mercer's global executive team from September 2000 to June 2006, occupying a variety of leadership and senior management roles. From 2004 to 2006, he was President of Mercer Health & Benefits at the firm's head office in New York. Before this, he was Executive Vice-President responsible for Mercer's Retirement, Health & Group Benefits, Outsourcing and Investment Consulting businesses worldwide.
Mr. Morency is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the U.S. Society of Actuaries (SOA). He holds a bachelor's degree in science, with a major in actuarial studies, from Université Laval.
Connections
Mr. Morency is a member of the Conference Board of Canada and served on the Board of Directors of the Standard Life Assurance Company of Canada and Standard Life Investments Inc. from 2007 to 2009.
He has delivered a wide range of talks to boards, human resources committees and senior executives on strategic issues related to pension funds.
