The Caisse offers exceptionally deep expertise in investments and operations. A true pioneer in the field, it was one of the first Canadian institutional investors to become involved in real estate acquisition and management. It made its initial foray into real estate financing early in its existence and acquired its first properties in Québec in the early 1980s. Over the years, the Caisse has become a key player in this sector. Today, it manages one of the 10 largest real estate portfolios in the world and is one of Canada’s leading commercial real estate lenders.

The Caisse’s real estate operations are administered by its two subsidiaries: Ivanhoé Cambridge and Otéra Capital. Both companies are staffed by teams of experts with comprehensive knowledge of financial products and in-depth knowledge of the different markets, which in turn enables them to offer investors and businesses innovative, diversified financing solutions based on their specific needs.

Real Estate Investments

Ivanhoé Cambridge is a prominent Canadian-based global real estate owner, manager and investor, focusing primarily on regional shopping centres, prestigious office buildings and multiresidential properties. It holds real estate assets throughout 24 countries, focusing its operations in major urban centres.

In September 2011, Ivanhoé Cambridge announced the creation of Ivanhoé Cambridge Europe to further leverage its investment expertise and operational excellencein order to optimize its market positioning and make the most of investment opportunities in France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany and elsewhere in Europe.

Real Estate Loans

Otéra Capital specializes in commercial real estate financing in Canada and provides customized term and construction loans adapted to the needs of its clients. Its integrated approach also covers loan servicing and asset management. For larger loans, Otéra can also arrange or take part in syndicated transactions.
