The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is a global investor. As at December 31, 2011, it managed net assets of $159 billion, which it invested in financial markets around the world, in different types of investments, and in all economic sectors.

- By investment type, to earn superior returns while managing risk and protecting capital.
By geographic area, to reduce exposure to individual economies and benefit from investment opportunities offered by other markets, particularly emerging markets.

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s overall portfolio is diversified into four asset classes: Fixed Income, Inflation-Sensitive Investments, Equity and Other Investments. Each of these asset classes has a specific risk-return profile. All together, the asset classes offers 17 specialized portfolios for the depositors to invest their funds.
