Changes in Investments Over the Years
The Caisse’s history has been marked by the rapid growth in depositors’ net assets and the gradual diversification of the overall portfolio by investment type, by region of the world and by industrial sector.

These changes over the years reflect the Caisse’s objective of:

  • Generating a return that meets its depositors’ expectations;
  • Limiting the risk of its overall portfolio.

1960s and 1970s
The Caisse’s overall portfolio is composed mainly of fixed-income securities, such as Québec government bonds.

1980s and 1990s
The Caisse increases and diversifies investments in stocks or equity market portfolio first in Canada and then abroad. The Caisse also developed its real estate and private equity portfolios in the 1980s.

Today
The Caisse invests in private equity, real estate, fixed-income securities and stocks.
