Michael Sabia is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Caisse. In this capacity, he is responsible for the strategic direction of the institution and determines the necessary course of action to fulfill its mission. Mr. Sabia leads the Executive Committee and sits on the Board of Directors.
Background
Prior to joining the Caisse, Mr. Sabia was with BCE, Canada's largest telecommunications company. Between 2002 and 2008, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of BCE. Prior to this, from 1999 to 2002, he was successively Chief Executive Officer of Bell Canada International and Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of BCE.
From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Sabia occupied various roles with Canadian National Railway, including Chief Financial Officer. He spent the preceding decade working as senior official in the Government of Canada.
Mr. Sabia obtained a Bachelor of Arts in economics and politics from the University of Toronto and holds graduate degrees in economics and politics from Yale University.
Connections
Mr. Sabia is very active in the community and he is currently serving as the co-chair of the Grand Bal des Vins-Coeurs for the Montréal Heart Institute Foundation. In recent years, his endeavours have included chairing the fundraising campaign for Maison Saint-Gabriel and co-chairing the campaign for the Montréal Heart Institute Foundation. In 2006, he has co-chaired the campaign for Centraide du Grand Montréal. He was also a member of the North American Competitiveness Council from 2005 to 2008.
