Profile
Marc Cormier was appointed Executive Vice-President, Fixed Income, in November 2009. His main mandate is to oversee the teams responsible for managing the sector’s four specialized portfolios: Short Term Investments, Bonds, Real Return Bonds and Long Term Bonds. He is a member of the Caisse’s Executive Committee and its Investment Management Committee.
Background
Mr. Cormier has close to 20 years of varied and complementary experience in the banking and investment industry.
He joined the Caisse in 1997 and held various positions as a Manager and a Vice-President with the team in charge of investments in fixed-income securities. Prior to his appointment as Executive Vice-President, Mr. Cormier was Senior Vice-President, Provincial Market and Financing with the Fixed Income and Currencies sector. As such, he managed the portion of the bond portfolio invested in securities issued by the various provincial governments in Canada, including the Gouvernement du Québec. Starting in the fall of 2007, he also supervised short-term investment and financing operations.
In addition to his portfolio management duties, he oversaw analytical support services for the Fixed Income and Equity Markets sectors, which he set up after selecting and implementing the necessary integrated technology solution.
During the course of his career, Mr. Cormier has also worked for several French financial institutions such as Crédit Lyonnais, in Montréal, and Crédit Commercial de France, in Paris.
He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Université Laval as well as an advanced graduate diploma in finance from the Université d'Aix en Provence and a master’s of economics applied to management, with a major in finance, from the Université de Rennes.
