Réal Raymond is a corporate director with an extensive background in finance, which he honed during his 37-year career with National Bank of Canada, between 1970 and 2007. His areas of expertise are closely linked to the Caisse's activities, especially those related to corporate services, real estate, treasury and financial markets, as well as securities brokerage. Among the positions he held at National Bank were President – Personal and Commercial Banking, President and Chief Operating Officer and, finally, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Raymond has an MBA from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) where he currently serves as chancellor and a certificate in administration from Université Laval. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB) and successfully completed the renowned Executive Management Program at the University of Michigan.
He sits on the boards of directors of Metro, Héroux-Devtek, Aéroports de Montréal and the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer of the Université de Montréal. He is also chancellor of UQÀM.
His commitment toward several Québec institutions has been recognized in various ways over the years. Among the honours he has received are the titles of Personality of the Week and CEO of the Year from La Presse, as well as an honorary doctorate from the UQÀM School of Management (ESG UQÀM).
